How to activate BattleMaps

Licence types

You will notice that when you first install BattleMaps, none of the menu options are available except for the 'help' menu. This is because the product needs to be 'activated' and to do this you will need a serial number.

If you are just trying out BattleMaps, a serial number that activates it for a short trial period can be obtained by visiting the website www.battle-maps.com and following the instructions given there.

If you have purchased a full copy on CD, then a serial number will be included with the packaging.

If you would like to purchase on-line, visit www.battle-maps.com/bm_purchase.html and follow the instructions there. A full serial number will be emailed to you.

Activating the installation.

Which ever kind of licence you have, you activate it in the same way. Start by clicking on 'help', then click 'Activate this copy of BattleMaps'. PLEASE NOTE that for the activation to take place, BattleMaps will need to have access to the internet. Please make sure you are connected before trying to activate it.

In the window which then appears, enter either your full name, or the name of the organisation which is licensing the program into the upper box, your serial number in the next box then click 'Activate', as below.

Activation progress will appear in the 'Progress...' box as below :

Assuming the activation is successful, the window will tell you this. In the case above, a valid evaluation serial number has been entered and successfully activated. In the case below, a full licence serial number has been activated successfully.

If there is a problem, the 'progress...' box will warn you, for example below the same serial number has already been used for a previous installation. If you got an error like this, just contact the support team as advised and tell them the time, date and error message you received.

Checking your licence

Once you click close on the activate window, another window will appear confirming your licence and if on evaluation, how long the licence will last, as below :

This window can be opened whenever you need, by clicking 'help' and 'Show current licence details'.
